Internet marketing #1 It isn't as easy as they say!
If you are a newcomer to Internet marketing - or you are thinking about getting started because it sounds so easy... think again. Cary Ganz looks at the reality behind the hype. In follow-up briefing papers, he will provide practical hands-on advice on how it is possible to make it work.
In this short article, and followup pieces, we'll walk the walk and provide you with some ideas of what the truth is behind the hype.
Now, before I begin, I don't want anyone to misinterpret the information contained within this article or even the title. There truthfully is money to be made online but it is just not as easy as it is portrayed by those emails you find in your inbox on a daily basis.
If you're looking to start a new online business, or have one that just isn't going the way you want, you need to think about the next period of time ( I would think 6 months to a year) as a form of post-graduate education.
There is no business I can think of that allows you to start making money without some form of investment. If you're starting a franchised 'brick and mortar' business, there is not only a huge capital investment but most franchisers demand you attend courses to learn the business.
One of the interesting aspects of an internet business is the low cost of capitalisation. That is what most people find attractive about this market. But there really is no such thing as something for nothing. Instead of investing a ton of money as you would if you were starting any other type of 'brick and mortar' business, you need to consider the fact that you will be investing time.
You need to learn the business. You need to understand the marketplace. You need to find and learn how to use the tools. You need to find a profitable niche. You need to, well, the list goes on and on.
Some internet marketers will try to sell you an 'internet business in a box'. An instant business that you pay for and they set up and have it ready to go in a matter of minutes. For the most part ( I have to be fair since there may be one out there that really works) the only one to make money in this type of business is the seller of the 'internet business in a box'. There is always much more to these businesses than meets the eye but unfortunately that part is left out of the sales page.
OK. You now know that there is no such thing as free lunch. So what do you do next?
It's important for you to start from the beginning. Learn all you can about the business and all of the various aspects that you need to understand in order to be a success. This is not impossible but it will take a great deal of effort. Right now over 95% of all internet businesses fail. Don't let that be you.
We'll talk again soon. Take a look at our future articles where we'll begin delving deep into the internet business model and with a bit of luck save you some money, time and a bit of your stomach lining and heart muscle at the same time.
